Applications of AISI 304 round bar, cold-drawn, solution annealed
AISI 304 cold-drawn round solution annealed (EN 1.4301) is a bright austenitic stainless steel bar that combines dimensional precision and cold-drawn finish with the toughness and corrosion resistance restored by solution annealing. Ideal for components subject to welding and forming with high aesthetic and cleanability requirements.
Compliance and designation: AISI 304 / EN 1.4301 according to EN 10088; available as a bar according to ASTM A276/A479; EN 10204 3.1 certification on request.
Metallurgical characteristics: non-hardenable austenitic structure, good weldability; solution annealing dissolves carbides and reduces the risk of sensitisation, preserving corrosion resistance after machining and welding.
Process performance: cold drawing for tight tolerances, excellent straightness, contained ovality and bright surface, useful for turning, milling and precision assembly.
Corrosion resistance: excellent in atmospheric environments and numerous mildly corrosive media; in the presence of chlorides or more aggressive chemistry, AISI 316/316L is preferable.
Typical applications: shafts and pins, fittings and components for the food and beverage industry, light chemical equipment, machine parts and non-high-strength fastening systems where superior finish and dimensional stability are required.
